The Pyredoodle is a hybrid dog that is made up of a combination of two different pure breeds. It's a cross between the Great Pyrenees and the Standard Poodle. The best method for understanding the characteristics of the Pyredoodle is to read both of its ancestors descriptions taking note of their temperaments, size and general look. Pyredoodles are gentle, calm and laid back. They are guardian dogs and will be watchful of their family. The Pyredoodle is loyal and loving. Even though they are large dogs, they are very gentle and enjoy being close to their owners. They fair well with children, especially if they have been socialized from birth. They are a little lazy and may be happy with just one walk a day. They are light barkers and normally only bark to call attention to something.Depending on the size of their parents, a Pyredoodle can mature to 25-34 inches at the withers and 60 to 120 lbs. Their coats can range from a wavy flat coat to a curly coat. They should be groomed regularly, every 6 weeks, depending on coat, and brushed at least 3 times a week. Most Pyredoodles do not shed or shed lightly. The curlier the coat, the less they shed. They are hypo allergenic and do great with people who have mild allergies to dog dander. The Pyredoodle is a great family dog that can also work well in a farm setting. Gentle and highly intelligent. Protective and loyal. The Pyredoodle would be a good fit for owners looking for dogs who are affectionate and intelligent. Great with children. And a true head turner where ever you may go.
